Activist Express Concern Over Rising Cases of Cultism in Delta State

Worried by the ugly trend of rising cases of Cultism and other despicable acts in Delta State, a human rights activists cum social crusader has called on residents in the state to partner police and sister security agencies to halt the rising wave of crime in the state.
Comrade (Amb.) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, National Coordinator of Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancement (ISRCA) Aka No Justice No Peace stated, this is in a press conference issued and signed by him
Reacting to the ugly cult incident, which claimed the lives of over four (4) youths in Ughelli South Local Government Area recently, he said the situation is pathetic and worrisome.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force and sister security Agencies to rise to the occasion by swinging into action to arrest the ugly trend, prevent the future recurrence and bring perpetrators of crime to book.
He bemoaned a situation where over 85% of Youths are practicing cultism, saying it calls for serious concerns, blaming the ugly trend on poor parenting, peers group and unemployment which he called on government to address appropriately.
He regretted that the issue of Cultism is on the upsurge in the state, and that adequate measures have to be emplaced to stop further spread of the monster called Cultism.
The National Coordinator of ISRCA upbraided the political class for employing the youths in political thuggery, and arming them with firearms which they fail to retrieve such arms from them, after the youths have made themselves willing tools in the hands of desperate politicians, and such arms later on used by youths to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens of the society.
He posited that , as a way out of this logjam, the state government should embark on robust advocacy against Cultism and initiate durable policies to provide employment for the teeming youths in Delta State.
