Delta Born/Indigenous Activist, Among Prominent Nigerians; bags “Good Governance Advocate Merit Award,” to mark the International YouthDay Celebration, 2024.
A civil rights activist; Comr.(Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen Who had served in different capacities in Delta State, under Civil Society Organisations and currently the National Coordinator, Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement(ISRCA), AKA “No Justice, No Peace,” was among notable Nigerians honoured in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.
The event took place last night in Jos, Plateau State, despite the challenges occasioned by the 10Days National Protest and Curfew in the area. The event was first scheduled to hold at the NBTT, Adjacent Crest Hotel, Old Airport Road, Jos but was later shifted to Arobic Hall, Crest Hotel after a fire outbreak occurred in the previous venue.
Comr.(Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen expressed gratitude to the organizers of the events; City Reports and entire crew, headed by Mr. Fredrick Preye, for finding him worthy of the recognition of “Good Governance Advocate” amid challenges of governance in the country. Activist Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen expressed deep concerns on the challenges faced by Nigerians and its economy downturn too and the need for the Federal and State Government to be responsive and proactive to the plights of the people. He stressed on the need for Nigerians to be united in the fight against bad governance.
In his words; Activism remains a tool to cause social change, that will transform the lives of the people. In a time such as this, where her oppressors devices different means to prevent the people from speaking, let’s hold strong to the pen of truth and justice and not giving into their schemes, even as we are looking forward to having a better society.”
