EFCC/ICPC Advised on Securing Convictions for Offenders

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and its counterpart (ICPC) have been advised to be seen as Agencies with proverbial reference as dogs that bark and bite as well.
Comrade Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen National Coordinator of Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancement (ISRCA) gave this advice while speaking with journalists
He said, the two Anti-graft agencies are trying the best to sanitize the financial polity in the Country, but they should do more in securing convictions for person(s) guilty of corrupt practices.
The human Rights activist stated that if EFCC and ICPC start doing such, the notion that the citizenry hold about them that they don’t bite yet will change
He equally called on the two Anti-Graft Agencies to launch a probe into how the integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPS) where being handled in the past by Heads of Service of the Federation and their states counterparts.
According to him, the efforts emplaced so far has assisted in exposing fraudulent individuals in the system.
He requested that the Anti-Graft Agencies should call past Managers of IPPS for questioning to ascertain the roles they played in the management of such funds.
Comrade Agberen called on Nigerians to be patriotic, saying situation were ghost workers are still salaries in the system even when they are in abroad is not fair.
He appealed to the State governments in the Country to start to implementing the #70,000 minimum wage for workers, saying that even oil producing States can afford #100,000 .
Comrade Agberen poured encomiums on the immediate past governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for being the first to increase workers minimum wage from #30,000 to #70,000
