EFCC/ICPC Should Bark And as Well Bite
By AhabamNews
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC and its sister Agency ICPC, should act in a way to be seen as being serious in their efforts to rid the Country of corruption.
The notion still being held by many in the Country is that the two Anti-Graft Agencies act like dogs that bark and does not bite.
When EFCC and ICPC prosecute person(s) for financial crimes and such persons are convicted, and the citizens see such, that will convince Nigerian Citizens that the two Anti-Graft Agencies are serious minded.
For instance, one of the first major assignments that EFCC must attend to now is the issue of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) what has helped in exposing some of the fraudulent activities being perpetrated by certain individuals in the service.
The need for EFCC and ICPC to probe the activities of former and current Heads of Service in the Federation, and their states counterparts. it will assist to sanitize the civil and public service.
As well, the EFCC and ICPC should also investigate allegation of ghost workers earning salaries in the State, while they are staying abroad.
The various states government taking into consideration, the current pains both Civil Servants, and other categories of workers are facing should as a matter of instant intervention, implement the #70,000 minimum wage for workers.
The TUC and NLC in their efforts to enhance the welfare of workers, and the entire citizens in the Country settled for #70,000 with government, and it is nice to hear that.
Special thanks goes to the immediate past governor of Edo State, mr. Godwin Obaseki, who was first to increase workers salaries in Edo State from #30,000 to #70,000.
Even, it will not be out of place for oil producing States in the Country to pay their workers #100,000 monthly. Since these states sustain the Nation’s economy they should be able to pay such amount.
