S.S.A. on CSO and NGO’s Advised on Town Hall Meeting With Delta State Governor
The Initiative for Social Rights Concern and Advancement (ISRCA) Aka No Justice No Peace, has called on Comrade Victor Ojei, the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society Organisations and Non Governmental Organisation to the Executive Governor of Delta State to facilitate a Town Hall meeting between the NGO’s and the State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
A statement signed by Comrade Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, National Coordinator of (ISRCA) said the Town Hall meeting was most imperative
According to him, the NGO’s and CSO’s are saddled with the responsibility of protection of human rights and speaking for the vulnerable.
The ISRCA reminded Comrade Victor Ojei that the entire CSO and NGO’s falls under his control and purview to see to their welfare and uniting them.
The ISRCA lamented the CSO and NGO’s, have not been enjoying the best of cohesiveness and strong Organisational structure in the state and that Comrade Victor Ojei should step in and form common bond amongst them
The ISRCA explain in clear terms that the CSO and NGO’s are supposed to be channels through which the government responds to the needs of the people, saying it has not been so.
ISRCA alleged that personal interests and egos have been norms in recent time, where even the rights of the people CSO NGO”s have been thrown to a state of oblivion, and that acrimony, animosity and no love lost have been at the centre of it all.
He said a case in point, is the disagreement among the CSO’s and NGO’s Communities in the State, whether to join the Endbadgovernance protest over hardships faced by Nigerians clearly underscores the fait that unity, love and harmony have vanished among comrades in the state.
He regretted that the citizenry are facing hard times, as poor families could not afford to buy foodstuffs to eat, which he called on the government to address.
ISRCA boss lamented that if Deltans have had a working state no person, whoever contemplate joining the Endbadgovernance protest in a hard time as this as the citizens are over-burdened with astronomical prices of food and do not have the energy to engage in such strenuous protest, saying it is as bad as that.
He said that Delta State is rich in human and material resources, saying the Governor Should emplaced a sense of managerial acumen to attract investment opportunities to the state to create employment for Deltans and contribute to the IGR potentials of the state.
He said in a situation such as this, where the citizens are suffering over food prices upsurge, it will be unwise for the CSO, NGO’s and stakeholders to embark on a protest, saying the best approach is for the state government to engage CSO, NGO’s and stakeholders in a Town Hall meeting to have a better insight on the yearnings and aspirations of the citizenry.
The ISRCA Chief Executive advised Comrade Victor Ojei, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on CSO’s and NGO’s to squeeze time out of his busy schedule and facilitate a Town Hall meeting between the Civil Societies and Delta State Governor His Excellence Sheriff Oborevwori
